Contact Rolls

Terminology

Moves where the prop rolls across the body instead of being thrown or swung. Used in contact staff, contact poi, and contact ball.

  • Neck roll — prop rolls across the back of the neck from hand to hand
  • Arm roll — prop rolls down the arm, across the shoulders, or up the other arm
  • Body roll — prop rolls across the torso, back, or legs

Contact rolls require heavier, slower props. Practice shirtless or in tight clothing — loose fabric catches and stops the roll.
